PPSWG is a membership association for pharmaceutical and sharps producers navigating product take-back legislation.
PPSWG is a 501(c)(6) tax-exempt, non-profit association that was founded to bring together producers of branded and generic prescription and non-prescription pharmaceuticals and sharps to address take-back laws for home-generated drugs and sharps.
We coordinate industry efforts and strategies for compliance, offer legislative and regulatory updates, and provide expert guidance for stewardship programs. MED-Project serves as the stewardship organization designated by PPSWG members to implement and operate mandated take-back programs.
As the recognized authority on household pharmaceutical and sharps take-back, PPSWG supports member compliance, helps contain costs, and advances education on safe, responsible disposal options.
Our mission is to provide infrastructure, guidance, and subject matter expertise to support member compliance and improve awareness of existing pharmaceutical disposal options.
380+ pharmaceutical companies and their hundreds of affiliates turn to PPSWG for their compliance needs. Our members include producers, manufacturers, distributors, wholesalers, re-packagers, affiliated marketers, and more; with portfolios including Rx and OTC branded and generic products, sharps devices, and private label products.
PPSWG was founded in 2014 by a group of pharmaceutical manufacturers looking to comply with take-back mandates while keeping governance and cost control in the hands of their industry.
Today, we are still governed by a member-comprised and member-elected Board of Directors, and each of our member companies has the right to vote on key decisions impacting the organization.
PPSWG member companies elect the Board of Directors, and provide strategic input to the Board and organization via member committees. Each member company is eligible to vote on key decisions impacting the organization.
Our Board of Directors is elected by the PPSWG membership, and made up of representatives from PPSWG member companies. The Board provides oversight of PPSWG and elects the MED-Project Board of Directors.
Our program operator, MED-Project, is governed by a separate Board of Directors, also elected by the PPSWG membership and made up of representatives from PPSWG member companies. The MED-Project Board provides oversight of MED-Project’s activities.
